Dune: Awakening launches on PS5 and Xbox alongside single-player update

Dune: Awakening is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox, and the console launch lands alongside a major update for all platforms. The update adds a full single-player mode, the conclusion to Book One’s story, more gameplay customization options, scalable difficulty, and other changes.

Funcom also released the Filmic Archive DLC today on all platforms. It’s a $9.99 cosmetic pack inspired by Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two, with new armors, stillsuits, weapons, emotes, decorations, and 73 Sardaukar-themed building pieces for bases.

The console versions are available in Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions. PS5 also has a physical release in North and South America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, with Japan set for October 29. On PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X, players can choose between Performance mode at 60fps with dynamic 4K, or Quality mode at 30fps with dynamic 4K. PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X get higher native resolution and improved visuals in Quality mode.

Dune: Awakening is also on Xbox Game Pass, with Game Pass members able to upgrade to Deluxe or Ultimate at 20% off. Xbox Play Anywhere is supported too, covering Xbox Series X|S, ROG Xbox Ally, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and the Windows Store version. Cross-play isn’t in at launch, but Funcom says it will be added later.

PC players haven’t been left out. The Steam version is 50% off until October 8, and the new update applies there as well. Funcom is also pointing returning players toward changes made since the PC release, including optional PvP, endgame improvements, and new areas.

Anyone who logs in between September 17 and October 22 can claim the Matron’s Décor base items. A new community challenge, El Sayldam: The Rain of Blood, starts September 25 and will be open across all platforms. Further out, Funcom says the Polar Cap survival map is planned for later this year, with cold-based survival mechanics and a standalone storyline.
