Dune: Awakening Chapter 3 lands February 3 with endgame changes and easier returns
Funcom says Dune: Awakening Chapter 3 arrives next week on February 3. The update is largely focused on reworking the game’s endgame after player feedback, with more PvE-friendly options alongside systems meant to deepen long-term progression.
According to Funcom’s developer update, the team has been using both community feedback and in-game data to adjust how endgame play works, aiming to give players multiple paths that feel similarly rewarding rather than pushing everyone into a single playstyle.
On the content side, Chapter 3 continues the main story and adds new endgame activities tied to the Landsraad. Players will be able to take on missions and assignments for rewards, and the Overland map is getting 10 new locations, including testing stations that feature scaling boss encounters.
Funcom is also introducing two new progression layers: Specialization and Augmentation systems. The studio hasn’t gone deep on exact numbers in this update, but the intent is to give players more meaningful ways to build out their characters at endgame.
One of the more practical changes is aimed at anyone who steps away for a while. Funcom is removing base taxes entirely, and Chapter 3 will add “Return Packages” that can be claimed if you have not logged in for at least 28 days. The package includes resources meant to help players get back on their feet after time away.
Those return-focused tweaks build on earlier additions like the Base Reconstruction tool, expanded bank storage, and recently added character transfers.
