ArenaNet’s Guild Wars Teaser Points to a June 5 Reveal

ArenaNet has posted a short Guild Wars teaser ahead of Summer Game Fest, and it’s already doing exactly what teasers do: sending players into theory mode. The clip appeared on both the Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 social accounts on June 1 with the same line: “The wind stirs. The world shifts. Stand ready.” It ends with a June 5 date, which lines up with this year’s Summer Game Fest broadcast.

The official teaser doesn’t name a game. It shows a painted landscape, then a character raising a sword. That’s about it. When PC Gamer asked whether this was about Guild Wars 3, ArenaNet gave a no comment, so there’s no confirmation either way.

There are a few obvious possibilities. The biggest one is Guild Wars 3, since NCSoft previously indicated in 2024 that ArenaNet had work underway on a new entry, though ArenaNet hasn’t formally announced the game. A Summer Game Fest reveal would be a big stage for that, but for now it’s still speculation.

It could also be the next Guild Wars 2 expansion. ArenaNet has been on a more regular expansion schedule in recent years, and Guild Wars 2 remains active and commercially relevant for NCSoft. The teaser’s landscape has also led some fans to point toward Orr, a major location in Guild Wars 2’s original story, though the video doesn’t give enough away to say that with confidence.

Another option is something tied to the original Guild Wars, which has seen renewed attention through Guild Wars: Reforged. The fact that ArenaNet posted the same teaser through both Guild Wars accounts makes that connection harder to ignore.

For now, the only solid answer is the date. ArenaNet is teasing something for June 5, and it’s clearly tied to the wider Guild Wars franchise. Whether that means Guild Wars 3, more Guild Wars 2, or a push for the original game should be clear during Summer Game Fest.
