Arc Raiders Wins Nordic Game of the Year at Nordic Game Awards
Arc Raiders took home Nordic Game of the Year at the Nordic Game Awards, held May 28 during the Nordic Game conference in Malmö, Sweden. Embark Studios’ extraction shooter also won Best Technology and Best Audio, making it the night’s biggest winner.
The top award put Arc Raiders ahead of Battlefield 6, Dune: Awakening, Split Fiction, and My Winter Car. Split Fiction, from Hazelight Studios, had four nominations and won Best Game Design. Battlefield 6 had three nominations but didn’t win in any category.
Swedish studios won five of the seven main awards, while Danish studios picked up the other two. The winners were:
- Nordic Game of the Year: Arc Raiders by Embark Studios
- Best Art: The Midnight Walk by MoonHood
- Best Game Design: Split Fiction by Hazelight Studios
- Best Technology: Arc Raiders by Embark Studios
- Best Audio: Arc Raiders by Embark Studios
- Best Fun for Everyone: Lego Voyagers by Light Brick Studio
- Best Debut: Discounty by Crinkle Cut Games
The People’s Choice Award went to Lootbound from Moldova-based Artdock Games. That award is open to indie exhibitors at Nordic Game and is voted on by conference attendees.
The ceremony also included a segment recognizing Ukrainian game studios, which received a standing ovation. Danish actor Magnus Bruun, known to many players as the male Eivor in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, hosted the awards.
