Albion Online’s Dragonfire Update Adds Azaryon, Ancient Lands, and Open-World Dragon Attacks

Albion Online’s Dragonfire update is live, bringing dragons into Sandbox Interactive’s free-to-play sandbox MMO for the first time. According to the Official Albion Online Dragonfire update page, the patch adds Azaryon the Fire Dragon, a new Ancient Lands realm, dragon attacks in the open world, and a set of dragon-themed rewards.

The headline fight is Azaryon, reached through the Dragon Sanctuary, a raid-style dungeon tied to the update’s new progression. Players can earn Waystone Fragments from Drake Islands in the Ancient Lands, then use them to unlock access to the sanctuary. Beating Azaryon can also drop a Drake Egg, which can be raised into a Firewing Drake mount.

The Ancient Lands are accessed through portals built for different group sizes, including solo players, small groups, and parties of up to 20. The area is made up of floating islands that lead into Drake Islands, where players can chase treasure and gather the fragments needed for the bigger dragon encounter.

Dragonfire also adds spontaneous dragon attacks on the Royal Continent, plus higher-risk dragon objectives for guilds in the Outlands. Players who contribute to these encounters can earn loot, so it’s not just a raid update tucked away in one corner of the game.

The Ashborn faction arrives with new PvE content, armor, gatherables, and more dragon-themed rewards. Sandbox Interactive is also running the Royal Hunt creator contest through October 12, with creator guilds taking on dragon-slaying missions for community giveaways and silver Dragon Coins for top performers.
