Team Liquid Takes World First Mythic Coiled Altar as WoW Race Moves to Ula’tek
Team Liquid has claimed World First on Mythic The Coiled Altar in World of Warcraft’s The Venomous Abyss raid, clearing the penultimate boss after 310 pulls. According to Wowhead’s report, the kill happened around 05:50 BST on August 30, opening the way to Mythic Ula’tek, the final boss of the Midnight Season 2 race.
Echo followed with World Second on The Coiled Altar shortly after, while Method secured World Third on the morning of August 31. That puts all three guilds at 7/8 Mythic and fully into final-boss progression.
As of the afternoon of August 31 BST, Mythic Ula’tek is still alive. Current race tracking from Method’s raid progress page shows Echo, Liquid, and Method all working through Phase 2 and the early intermission. Echo has reached Intermission 1, Liquid is reportedly around the middle to later part of Phase 2 after more than 100 pulls, and Method is also deep into Phase 2 on fewer attempts.
The Venomous Abyss is an eight-boss Mythic raid tied to Patch 12.1, Curse of Ula’tek, and opened with Season 2 during the week of August 18 and 19. Ula’tek is the Hall of Fame boss for the tier, meaning the first 200 guilds worldwide to defeat it will earn the achievement.
For now, the race looks tight at the top. All three leading guilds appear to be hitting a similar progression wall, and commentators are already discussing whether the fight could see tuning changes or stretch into another weekly reset.
