Lost Ark’s Guardianknight arrives with Guardian’s Rage update, devs share class details
Lost Ark is adding its new Guardianknight class in Wednesday’s Guardian’s Rage update, and Amazon Games has posted a behind-the-scenes look at how the team built the character and her mechanics.
In the write-up, the devs say the core idea was to pull directly from the power fantasy of the game’s Guardians, but with a visual contrast. Guardians are typically portrayed as enormous, destructive monsters, so the Guardianknight was designed as a female character whose “delicate” look flips the script once she starts unleashing big, heavy-hitting attacks.
That reversal is baked into her kit through a pair of states, with the Incarnation state being the big one. When she enters Incarnation, her appearance shifts and her attacks become more overtly destructive. The team also highlights her weapon choice: a halberd, which they picked specifically because it’s a weapon type Lost Ark hasn’t used for a class before.
Her visuals lean hard into Guardian-inspired features like wings and claw-like elements, and the devs tie her power to Embereth’s energy. The blog also notes that Incarnation is meant to feel less restricted once you’re in it, with resource limitations lifted and stronger skills, though you’ll need to manage things before triggering the state.
There’s more on the class’ mechanics and presentation in the developer blog.
