WoW Midnight opens steady flying for everyone as Blizzard rolls out major class tuning
Blizzard is pushing a sizable class tuning pass for World of Warcraft: Midnight this week alongside the start of Midnight Season 1. According to the official post, the changes are aimed at current max-level performance and are meant to bring outliers back in line.
Some of the adjustments are pretty big. Unholy Death Knights are getting a flat 20% damage reduction, while Balance Druids are on the other end with a 20% DPS increase. Blizzard hasn’t framed this as a light touch pass, and from the numbers already shared, it clearly isn’t one. There’s alot of small changes, so make sure to check out the full notes if you’re interested.
The other notable change is flight. Blizzard has backed away from its earlier plan to gate steady flying behind an account achievement, and it’s now available to everyone. That means players don’t need to unlock it first once the update lands.
Blizzard said it still likes the slower pace of ground-based questing in Midnight and thinks the expansion feels different when players aren’t flying over everything. At the same time, the studio said it doesn’t currently plan to meaningfully restrict flight access going forward.
For players jumping into Season 1, the short version is simple: expect some specs to perform very differently this week, and expect getting around Midnight zones to be a lot easier right away.
