WoW: Midnight details Haranir allied race, Prey system, and a short launch test this Friday
Blizzard has shared new overviews for two of World of Warcraft: Midnight’s big additions: the Haranir allied race and the expansion’s new Prey system. If you’ve been trying to figure out how either one actually works, these posts fill in some of the missing details.
First up, the Haranir. According to the official post, you’ll unlock the troll-elf hybrid allied race during Midnight’s leveling campaign. They’re not faction-locked either, pledging loyalty to both the Alliance and Horde. Class options are broad: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Monk, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior.
The more unusual feature is the Prey system, which sounds like an opt-in challenge layer that follows you around while you’re out questing and exploring. Blizzard’s overview says you can choose from different challenge levels, then “activate” a special prey that will show up periodically during your adventures. There are rewards tied to participating, including the ability to unlock Great Vault slots.
Blizzard is also running a short Midnight launch test this Friday, February 20, scheduled for one hour starting at 1:30 PM PST, per the forum post. No extra details were included in the source beyond the timing, but it’s there if you want an early peek at how the rollout is shaping up.
