Destiny 2’s next major update slips to June 9, 2026, and gets a new name
Bungie has pushed back Destiny 2’s next Major Update. What was previously billed as Destiny 2: Shadow and Order is now set to launch on June 9, 2026, instead of the earlier March window.
According to Bungie’s announcement, the update is “undergoing large revisions,” and it’s being expanded with “sizable quality-of-life updates.” Because of those changes, Bungie says it’ll also be renamed.
Bungie didn’t share the new title yet, but it did point to more info later on a few specific systems and features players have been waiting to hear about. That includes weapon tier upgrading, Tier 5 armor stats, “Pantheon 2.0,” and expanding tiered gear across the game’s raids and dungeons.
Between now and June 9, Bungie’s messaging suggests things will be relatively light on big drops. The studio says the focus will be on bug fixes and stability, ongoing portal modifiers, and a more frequent Iron Banner cadence in April. Guardian Games is also expected to return in March.
For the near-term calendar, Bungie’s latest TWID also mentions Praxic Time Trials starting this week, Trials of Osiris coming back, and updates to the new player guide, per the official post.
