WoW: Forever Will Have Roleplay-PvP at Launch

Blizzard has updated its ruleset plans for World of Warcraft: Forever, confirming that the Roleplay-PvP ruleset will be available when the game launches on November 4. It’s also planned to be included in Early Name Reservation, which begins Tuesday, October 27.

The bigger shift in Forever is that players won’t start by picking a traditional realm. Instead, they’ll choose a ruleset first, which acts more like a broad playstyle space. Blizzard says players in the same ruleset can group, run dungeons, and raid together, but cross-ruleset grouping won’t be supported. Battlegrounds may pull from multiple rulesets, though Hardcore will stay separate.

Characters generally won’t be able to move freely between rulesets. If you want to play under a different ruleset, you’ll need to make a new character there. Hardcore will be more locked down than the others, though dead Hardcore characters can transfer out to another ruleset, including PvP.

Faction restrictions are also sticking around. Horde and Alliance players still can’t group together, and on the PvP ruleset, players can only create characters for one faction. If you make an Alliance character there, you won’t be able to make a Horde character in that same PvP space, and vice versa. Normal, Roleplaying, and Hardcore will allow characters from both factions.

Blizzard also says Forever will include faction-balance tools for PvP, similar to the approach used in Season of Discovery, where character creation for one faction could be temporarily limited when needed. Players will also be able to set an account-wide preferred online language, with a 24-hour cooldown before changing it again.
