WoW 12.1.5 Nerfs Several Season 2 Dungeons and Mythic Coiled Altar

World of Warcraft’s 12.1.5 content update is bringing a round of dungeon and raid tuning on October 13, with Blizzard lowering damage, health, and some mechanic pressure across several Season 2 dungeons. The changes were posted by community manager Linxy on the official forums.

The broad read is simple: a lot of trash and boss abilities are getting toned down. Altar of Fangs, Ruby Life Pools, The Blinding Vale, Voidscar Arena, and a few other instances are all affected, while The Venomous Abyss gets specific Mythic changes for The Coiled Altar encounter.

  • Altar of Fangs gets multiple nerfs, including reduced health for several enemies and lower damage on Piercing Hiss, Paralyzing Shot, Rattle, Venom Burst, Carrion Burst, and Axegrinder.
  • Ruby Life Pools is being softened in several spots, including lower damage from Earthbound’s Imprint, Thunderous Stomp, and Blazebound Firestorm. Living Bomb can also now be dispelled without triggering the explosion.
  • The Blinding Vale sees reductions to Sporeblight Belcher health and damage, fewer Belch Sore projectiles, and nerfs to Lightwarden Ruia and Ziekket-related abilities.
  • Voidscar Arena gets several damage and timing reductions, including longer Savage Leap cooldowns, a shorter Insidious Aura channel, and lower periodic damage from Atroxus and Charonus abilities.
  • On Mythic, The Coiled Altar will spawn fewer Toxic Deluge orbs and Virulent Mutations in Phase 1, while Dreadmarch targets fewer players.
  • Manifestations of Dread should also be clearer to read, with immediate red glow visuals for the fixated target, a wider stun detection angle, and despawning if their target dies.

There are also smaller targeted changes in Murder Row and Temple of Sethraliss, including a 33% reduction to Zaen Bladesorrow’s Fire Bomb damage and a 25% reduction to Static Anomaly’s Spark Step damage.

For Mythic groups, the Coiled Altar changes are probably the biggest single encounter adjustment here. Fewer targets, fewer adds, and clearer fixate visuals should make the fight less chaotic without changing its basic structure.
