World of Warcraft patch 12.0.5 arrives Tuesday with Voidforge and Decor Duels

World of Warcraft gets patch 12.0.5 next Tuesday, adding a couple of notable new activities to the Midnight expansion. The update isn’t a huge tentpole patch, but it does bring a new gear progression system called the Voidforge and a lighter side mode called Decor Duels.

According to the official post, the full patch notes are already live ahead of release. Blizzard is also breaking out separate previews for the patch’s bigger additions, including the Voidforge and Decor Duels.

The Voidforge is the more gameplay-relevant addition for players chasing item level. Blizzard says players will work with domanaar Decimus to build the forge, then use it to transmute Nebulous Voidcores into empowered gear. Those Voidcores come from Midnight Season 1 raids and from endgame activities including Mythic+, Bountiful Delves, and Prey Hunts on Nightmare difficulty.

On the other end of the spectrum, Decor Duels is basically a hide-and-seek prop hunt set in Silvermoon. Players can disguise themselves as objects and try to avoid being found, or play the seeker instead. There’s also a small anti-camping twist: if you stay still too long while hiding, you start attracting flies.

If you’ve been keeping up with Midnight’s post-launch updates, 12.0.5 looks more like a mid-cycle content patch than a major reset. Still, for players who want another gear track or just something goofy to do between runs, there’s at least a bit of both here.
