World of Warcraft: Midnight’s Talebound PTR Demo Opens October 30

Blizzard is opening a short Talebound demo for World of Warcraft: Midnight on the PTR from October 30 through November 1. Players won’t need an active subscription to try it.

The demo includes the Red Hollow introduction, three playable tales, three difficulty levels, and the full trio of Talebound classes. It’s a limited test, so Blizzard notes that talents and tuning are still subject to change.

  • Red Hollow serves as the intro, setting up the Storyteller and the start of the journey in Quillgrave.
  • The three available tales are Darkhaven, Greenthistle Wood, and Greywake’s Expedition.
  • Each tale can be played on Normal, Veteran, or Heroic difficulty.
  • The available classes are Slayer, Inquisitor, and Witch.

Talebound can be played solo or with friends, with combat built around movement and defense. All three classes can double jump, dodge, and guard, so positioning sounds like a big part of surviving fights rather than just standing still and trading hits.

The Slayer is the weapon-focused option, using a sword, gun, mines, knives, and silver bolts. The Inquisitor leans into holy fire and mobile casting, with abilities that slow, burn, and detonate enemies. The Witch is the stranger spellcaster of the bunch, calling on lightning, poison frogs, spiders, ravens, thorns, and even a temporary cat form.

Blizzard says several Talebound talents are still in progress, which is the usual warning for PTR content. Players who jump in are asked to try the available tales and classes and share their feedback.
