World of Warcraft: Midnight gets its first content update today with Void Assaults and class changes
Blizzard has rolled out the first post-launch content update for World of Warcraft: Midnight today, April 21. Patch 12.0.5, called Lingering Shadows, adds a mix of new activities and progression systems, along with a sizable batch of class tuning.
According to the official post, the headline additions include zone-wide Void Assaults, Delve-style Ritual Sites, the new Voidforge gear upgrade system, Abyss Anglers, Decor Duels, and updates for Mythic+ dungeons. Blizzard also published a separate roundup of class changes tied to the patch.
- Void Assaults add zone-wide events built around fighting back Void forces.
- Ritual Sites bring in Delve-like activity content.
- Voidforge is a new system for improving gear.
- Abyss Anglers adds another side activity to the expansion.
- Decor Duels introduces what Blizzard describes as non-lethal PvP.
- Mythic+ also gets some new additions in this patch.
- Multiple classes received balance and gameplay changes.
That makes 12.0.5 a fairly broad update rather than a story-only drop. If you’re already in Midnight, the main takeaway is simple: there’s new open-zone content to run, another progression hook to check out, and some class adjustments worth reading before you log in.
Blizzard also released a trailer alongside the update, but the bigger thing for most players will be the patch itself and how those class changes shake out over the next few days.
