Albion Online is now available on Xbox Series X|S with cross-play and cross-progression

Albion Online launched today on Xbox Series X|S, bringing Sandbox Interactive’s PvP-focused sandbox MMO to console for the first time. The Xbox version supports full cross-platform play and cross-progression with the existing PC and mobile releases, so players can use the same account across all three platforms.

According to the official site, the console launch also comes with a broader controller overhaul that isn’t limited to Xbox. Sandbox says it reworked targeting, aiming, hotbars, menus, and the radial menu for gamepad play, and those controller improvements are now available across every platform.

That’s the big change here. Albion has been playable on PC and mobile for a while, but this is its first jump to a dedicated home console. For a game built around gathering, crafting, PvE, and full-loot PvP in a shared world, cross-play matters a lot more than a separate platform launch with isolated servers.

The studio says the Xbox version was optimized for Series X|S, with UI and navigation adjusted for controller use. How that feels in practice, especially in PvP, will probably be the real test for longtime players.

Albion Online is free to play, and the Xbox release is live now.
