World of Warcraft kicks off Season 1 with a staggered rollout through April 7

World of Warcraft has started Season 1 for its latest expansion, with Blizzard rolling the update out in stages over the next few weeks. According to the official post, players can jump into The Dreamrift and the first wing of The Voidspire now on Normal, Heroic, and Raid Finder, alongside Delves, Heroic dungeons, Mythic dungeons, and new world bosses.

The rest of the season unlocks gradually instead of all at once. Blizzard says more Raid Finder wings and Mythic raid access will open over the following weeks, with the rollout continuing through April 7.

Blizzard has also launched a new charity pet tied to the season’s start. Roofus is a dog companion sold in support of Habitat for Humanity, and it also includes a pet bed, pet dish, and doghouse for players using housing decorations in the modern version of the game. Details are in Blizzard’s announcement.

So, for players who’ve been waiting to start gearing in earnest, this is the week that process begins. Just don’t expect every part of Season 1 to be live on day one.
