World of Warcraft: Forever Name Reservations Are Open Ahead of November Launch
Blizzard has opened early name reservations for World of Warcraft: Forever, giving eligible players a short window to lock in character names before launch on November 4. The reservation period runs from October 27 through November 3, with access tied to the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack, or the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection.
The rollout landed alongside a new launch trailer called “WARPATH,” an AMV-style video. Blizzard’s trailer description (“Alliance. Horde. War.”) points players toward the November 4 launch, which will be available with a WoW subscription or game time.
During early reservations, players can create up to three characters total across all Rulesets. That limit is shared, not per Ruleset, so making two characters on a PvP Ruleset leaves room for just one more on Normal or Role-Play. Blizzard says the limit only applies during the reservation period. Names are also first-come, first-served, so there’s no guarantee a specific name will still be available.
To reserve a name, players need to open the Battle.net desktop app, select World of Warcraft, choose World of Warcraft: Forever from the Game Version menu, install it, then pick a Ruleset and create characters.
Blizzard has already flagged a couple of issues since reservations went live. Oceanic players connecting to Australian-based servers should create any Roleplay or Roleplay-PvP characters before making characters on Normal or PvP Rulesets. If they do it in the other order, those Roleplay options may disappear for later characters. Blizzard says it’s working on a fix.
There’s also a naming bug making the restricted-name filter too aggressive. Some allowed names were being blocked, including names containing “c-o-n.” Blizzard says the fix will arrive with the next realm restarts in each region, after which players who were incorrectly blocked can try again.
