World of Warcraft: Forever Adds Campsites Built Around Professions

Blizzard has outlined the Camping system coming to World of Warcraft: Forever, turning the familiar Cooking Fire into a shared campsite where players can rest, craft, and pick up profession-based buffs before heading back out.

The Basic Campfire can support up to three camp features placed by nearby players, with each player able to contribute one. To receive the benefits, players need to sit or craft near the campfire for at least one minute. Many of these bonuses overlap with existing class buffs, so they won’t stack with their class-based equivalents.

Profession camp items start appearing once a profession reaches skill level 20, either through starter zone quests or profession trainers. Higher-end campsite items, requiring skill level 140 or above, come from dungeon and raid drops. Cooks can later unlock upgraded campfires that support five or even 10 placed objects.

  • First Aid can place a First Aid Kit that grants Stamina, exclusive with Power Word: Fortitude.
  • Fishing can add a Fishing Bowl for an 8% stat boost, exclusive with Blessing of Kings.
  • Alchemy can place a Mana Well that restores mana over time, exclusive with Blessing of Wisdom.
  • Blacksmithing can add a Sharpening Wheel for Strength, exclusive with Strength of Earth Totem.
  • Engineering can place a Reagent Bot so nearby players can buy reagents.
  • Leatherworking can add a Camp Tent that increases rested experience by 5% of a level.

The idea is to make professions more visible in the world, not just something players use in cities or at auction houses. A roadside camp can become a quick buff stop, a crafting break, or just a place where players run into each other while traveling.

Placement still matters. Camps aren’t safe by default, and Blizzard notes that danger can still find players who stop in the wrong place. On PvP rulesets, that includes enemy players stumbling onto your campsite.

World of Warcraft: Forever upgrades are available for pre-purchase now. Early name reservations run from October 27 through November 3, ahead of the November 4 start.
