Wizard101 Opens Fall Ahmarra Update for Test Realm Feedback
Wizard101’s fall Ahmarra update is now live on the Test Realm, giving players an early look at the MMO’s next world, new school spells, fishing changes, pet hatching improvements, and a different approach to endgame loot.
The big addition is Ahmarra, a new world tied to the chase for Miranda Briar, who has hidden herself from Bartleby. The update also adds a new spell for each school. These spells cost 7 Pips and a School Pip, hit all enemies, and can later be upgraded with Spellments along two paths: one focused on raw damage, and another that trades some power for extra effects and Magic Wheel interactions.
Fishing is getting a pass alongside the new coastal areas in Ahmarra. Players will be able to catch new fish, use new fishing spells, and pick up Rank 4 Fishing Lures. KingsIsle is also widening the range at which fish can detect lures and speeding up the casting animation, which should make the activity feel a little less sluggish.
Endgame loot is one of the bigger test points. Ahmarra’s final bosses will drop gear such as hats, robes, shoes, and new wands, with repeated clears increasing the chance of getting missing pieces. Keep running the fights long enough, and drops can eventually become guaranteed. Other gear slots, including Amulets, Athames, Decks, and Rings, are moving to crafting and require level 190.
KingsIsle says this loot setup is experimental, so feedback from Test Realm players could affect how future updates handle boss drops. The studio is also looking for input on Beastmoon Beastform changes included in the build.
Other additions in the update include improved pet hatching, custom keybinding, and Raid Visitors, a feature that lets invited guild visitors join a raid team.
