MapleStory Classic World Is Now Live Globally as a Free-to-Play Legacy Server

Nexon has launched MapleStory Classic World globally, bringing a separate legacy-style version of MapleStory to players on the Nexon Launcher and Steam. The free-to-play server went live on October 21, 2026, after a founder’s access period that started October 6.

Classic World is built around a slower, older-school MapleStory pace, with its own servers, a fresh economy, older mechanics, and a level cap of 100. It’s available on Windows and macOS, with English support plus Spanish and Korean in beta. Nexon notes that the UI, class names, cash items, and pets remain in English for now.

  • Players can create up to three characters per account, all starting as Beginners on Maple Island.
  • First job advancement happens at level 10, with Warrior, Magician, Bowman, and Thief available at launch.
  • Second job advancement opens at level 30, with familiar paths like Fighter, Cleric, Hunter, Assassin, and Bandit.
  • Modern key bindings support WASD movement, and Xbox and PlayStation controllers are supported if controller support is enabled in options.
  • New accounts have trading restrictions until 24 hours after a character on the account reaches level 15.

Victoria Island is the main launch area, including the newly added Excavation Site near Perion. Six bosses are available to challenge at launch: Mano, Stumpy, Mushmom, Shade, Zombie Mushmom, and Jr. Balrog. The Kerning City Party Quest, “First Time Together,” is also live for characters level 21 and up on channels 3 through 12.

Classic World also adds systems that weren’t part of early MapleStory in the same way, including crafting at level 10, citizenship at level 12, and housing tied to Henesys or Kerning City citizenship. Players can own one home at a time, decorate it, and invite others over.

Launch events are already underway. “The Journey Begins” runs through November 18 for characters level 10 and up, with daily check-ins that include a Snail pet on Day 1, along with items like Safety Charms, Megaphones, and Store Permits over 14 check-ins. “The Marks We Leave Behind” sends level 25 and up players on a Victoria Island treasure hunt, while closed test participants can claim Classic Beginnings Label and Chat Rings.

Halloween events start October 28 and run through November 18, including Halloween Candies, Orange Slime town spawns, and a hidden mission that rewards the Pumpkin Basket one-handed sword. Forgotten Hollow won’t be available at launch, but Nexon says the area will open sometime in November.
