Where Winds Meet outlines Imperial Palace expansion and summer roadmap

Where Winds Meet is getting its second major expansion later this month. Everstone Studio says the new update, called Imperial Palace, will launch in late May and move the story from the Hexi region to the royal court at the center of the empire.

The studio also used the game’s half-anniversary announcement to lay out what’s coming next. That includes a Homesteads system in June, two new modes also planned for June, a new Gauntlets weapon this summer, and a future Companion system. There’s also a limited-time panda cosmetic arriving May 19 for 60 Echo Beads, which the studio says is about $0.99, and players can claim three premium outfits for free during the event.

According to the announcement, the Imperial Palace area covers roughly 1 million square meters and is meant to be comparable in scale to Kaifeng. Everstone says the zone will include more than 3,000 NPCs and focus on palace intrigue, faction conflicts, and ties to the royal family.

  • The panda cosmetic goes on sale May 19 and leaves the shop June 17.
  • Homesteads are planned for June and will let players build a home base in Qinghe.
  • June will also add a 5-player co-op PvE mode called Martial Path Domain.
  • A separate exploration mode set in ancient tombs is also scheduled for June.
  • Gauntlets, a new weapon type, are set for summer.
  • A Companion system with animal partners is planned for a later update.

Everstone also said it has made more than 100 updates and optimizations over the past two months, including changes to gear progression, PvP matchmaking, guild wars, catch-up systems, the new player experience, PlayStation optimization, and controller support.

Looking a bit further out, the studio says it’s working on more guild features, weapon balance changes, and new servers in Australia, South America, and the Middle East. No dates were given for those additions.
