Where Winds Meet Adds Hutuo Region and Anniversary Update on November 13
Where Winds Meet is getting a new region, Hutuo, on November 13 alongside the wuxia action RPG’s first global anniversary update. NetEase Games and Everstone Studio revealed the update on October 27, with Hutuo framed as a wartime area built around the Hutuo River Campaign and a new main story arc.
The update takes players into a more active battlefield setting, with quests following soldiers, refugees, and civilians caught between collapsing authority and the martial code of Xia. The main campaign includes a battle at Zhongdu Bridge against Xiao Han, a Khitan general using Blood-forged Super Armor.
- Hutuo adds two open-world bosses: Bingshen at Moonveil Knoll and Khitan shaman Yelu Abuli.
- A new Dual Spears martial art is coming in late November, not on November 13. It was choreographed with action director Yuen Woo-ping, who serves as the game’s Global Action Consultant.
- Two board game-style modes are being added: Horse Racing Chess, where players act as living pieces in a dice race, and Jianghu Tactics, a lineup-building mode focused on positioning, gear, and round-by-round synergies.
- The first global anniversary event will include in-game rewards for both returning players and newcomers, though the full reward list hasn’t been detailed yet.
- PlayStation players get DualSense haptics and adaptive trigger support, fewer frame hitches in heavy fights, and faster loading through asynchronous asset streaming, while PS5 Pro adds enhanced PSSR and upgraded ray-traced reflections at a stable 60 FPS.
Everstone also plans to show more of the update during a First Anniversary Special Preview Stream on November 2 UTC. That broadcast is expected to include more Hutuo gameplay and developer details ahead of the November 13 launch.
