Ubisoft’s March of Giants Gets an October Steam Playtest Ahead of 2027 Early Access
Ubisoft is running a public Pioneer Playtest for March of Giants from October 7 to October 18 on Steam, giving players an early look at its upcoming 4v4 MOBA before Early Access begins in summer 2027.
Access is handled through Steam’s Playtest system. Players can request access from the March of Giants Steam page, and Ubisoft says invites will appear through Steam once granted. The test begins October 7 at 7:00 AM Pacific. Players who joined the September 2025 closed alpha are already invited and don’t need to sign up again.
March of Giants is a team-based MOBA set against a World War 1-inspired backdrop, though the playable characters are supernatural Giants with their own abilities. Matches also involve commanding battalions of soldiers, which can attack enemies, gather materials, or help secure temporary team buffs.
The game’s Battleworks system is one of the bigger hooks. Ubisoft describes it as a way to alter the arena during a match, including defensive structures, attack-focused options, and reinforcements. The playtest will allow streaming, recording, and sharing footage, so expect gameplay to start circulating once servers go live.
There are also test rewards tied to a “Pioneer Status” track. Players need 1,000 points to unlock it, with PvP wins granting 100 points and losses granting 50. Reaching Pioneer Status unlocks a player profile badge, a permanent Giant unlock starting October 12, and a free Premium Early Access pack.
Ubisoft is also offering point boosters through Twitch viewing and a one-time Discord code, plus a Giant Token for subscribing to select March of Giants creators. A YouTube premiere is scheduled for October 7 at 9:00 AM Pacific, with a closer look at playable Giants, Battleworks, and developer commentary.
