Throne and Liberty adds the Tower of Greed co-op mode on January 29, plus housing and expedition changes
Throne and Liberty is getting a new PvE activity this week with the Tower of Greed, alongside a rework to Amitoi Expeditions and a handful of housing upgrades. The update is scheduled after maintenance on January 29, with an estimated six hours of downtime starting at 10:30pm PT.
The Tower of Greed is framed as a co-op challenge mode, but it is flexible on party size. It supports up to six players and uses scaling difficulty with randomly generated floors that get tougher as you climb. Access is tied to a new Side Story Codex entry (Tower of Greed), which you’ll need to complete to unlock the activity.
Amitoi Expeditions are also being overhauled to lean more into gathering. Completing expeditions will now award Expedition XP and lifeskill XP based on the materials your Amitoi bring back. As you progress, you can unlock a Boss Hunt expedition, which offers bonus XP and rewards for a limited time.
The system is changing on the timing side, too. Expedition length is now tied to the location you choose rather than fixed time options, and returning Amitoi will become fatigued, meaning they’ll need to recover before being sent out again. Matching an Amitoi to its regional location reduces both the expedition duration and the later fatigue recovery time.
Housing is getting more granular customization, including editable wall and fence shapes through the Craft Furniture menu, plus two new region-specific wall and fence sets. There’s also a new craftable item, Adhesive, required for wall shape recipes. On the quality-of-life front, wallpaper and flooring can be applied to individual sections instead of the whole house, and you can now add (and remove) collaborators who can help decorate and rearrange your place.
The Lucky Mystic Portal event also returns on January 29 and runs through February 22, with Mystic Keys available via daily login rewards. Amazon has more details in the announcement and patch notes.
