Subnautica 2 and PUBG Help Push Krafton to Record Q2 Revenue

Krafton posted a record second quarter, with revenue up 94.9% year over year to ₩1.29 trillion, about $889.1 million. Operating profit climbed 67% to ₩410.9 billion, or roughly $283.1 million.

The company pointed to two main drivers: Unknown Worlds’ Subnautica 2 and continued growth for PUBG. Subnautica 2 launched in Early Access in May and passed five million copies sold within 22 days, according to Krafton. Across the wider Subnautica IP, including the original game and Subnautica: Below Zero, first-half revenue reached ₩232.5 billion, about $160.2 million.

The quarter also included the end of Krafton’s legal fight with former Unknown Worlds leaders. Krafton settled the dispute and agreed to pay the contested $250 million bonus.

PUBG revenue rose 25% year over year, with Krafton still trying to stretch the franchise beyond the core battle royale through collaborations and new projects. PC revenue passed ₩500 billion, around $344.4 million, for the first time, helped by both PUBG and Subnautica. Console revenue was also up sharply, rising 143.3% to ₩23.8 billion, while mobile revenue grew 5.5% to ₩451 billion.

Krafton also said it plans to announce five new titles at Gamescom next month, all currently planned for release by 2027. The lineup includes a new PUBG-based project, No Law, Project Zeta, Age Twisters, and Tarae: The Unbound.

Earlier this year, the company said it had 26 games in development, with 12 planned to launch within the next two years.
