StarRupture’s first early access update will add new areas, buildings, and wildlife

StarRupture is getting its first early access update, and developer Creepy Jar says it will bring a fairly broad batch of additions to the sci-fi base builder. The patch, simply called Update 1, doesn’t have a release date yet, but the studio has confirmed more playable areas, new buildings, corporation levels, and wildlife.

According to the official post, the update is now on the way as StarRupture continues its early access run, which is expected to last around a year. Creepy Jar also shared a separate look at some of the game’s new creatures, which appear to lean more cute than hostile.

StarRupture is a first-person open-world builder with co-op support, mixing resource extraction, factory-style production, exploration, and combat against alien enemies. If you haven’t kept up with it since launch, that’s still the basic loop: build up an industrial base, manage resources, and survive on a shifting sci-fi planet.

The timing makes sense. StarRupture has held mostly positive user reviews on Steam, but like a lot of early access games, its player count has dropped since release. Update 1 looks like the first big attempt to expand the game’s footprint and give current players a reason to jump back in.

For now, the main takeaway is simple: the first major content patch is coming, and it sounds like it’ll touch several parts of the game rather than just add one feature or system. A date still hasn’t been announced.
