Camelot Unchained enters early access for existing backers
Camelot Unchained has finally started its early access rollout, but right now it’s only open to existing backers. That includes past supporters and original Kickstarter backers, with access being handled directly through Unchained Entertainment rather than Steam.
According to the official post, a Steam early access release is planned for later, though there’s no date yet. The studio also says its pledge shop, which closed last fall, should reopen “very soon” for players who want to buy into the current early access version.
This first early access build includes more than 60 square kilometers of map space built around large realm-vs-realm battles, which has always been the game’s main pitch. Unchained also says the current version includes visual and lighting upgrades, a reworked stat system, royal quests tied to each realm’s war effort, plus crafting and gathering.
The team also shared a spring roadmap. April is set to add the Devout class and two new tradeskills. May is slated to bring new NPC enemies and a forest zone. June is planned to add realm-wide reward systems and another new class.
For anyone who hasn’t been following it closely, Camelot Unchained has been in development for a long time. The MMORPG was funded on Kickstarter back in 2013 and has faced years of delays, with a previously planned 2025 early access window slipping into 2026. This launch doesn’t mean a full public release yet, but it does move the game into a more formal playable phase after a very long road.
