Soulframe Closed Alpha “Preludes 13” revamps Virtues progression, adds new mission type and weapons
Digital Extremes has pushed a new Soulframe closed alpha build live on PC: Preludes 13: A Triquetra of Virtues. The headline change is a full rework of the game’s Virtues based stat progression, alongside a new mission type called The Organ, three new weapons to forge, and expanded face and hair customization.
The Virtues rework reshapes how Courage, Spirit, and Grace grow as you level. Instead of manually spending points, the update has Virtues evolving alongside your Envoy, with a new Virtue Prism system that lets you shift your stat focus in real time. Gear also now scales with Virtue attunement, tying certain armor to specific playstyles more directly.
On the customization side, you can now visit Verminia (the “rat witch” Ancestor) in the Nightfold to tweak your Envoy beyond dyes and armor looks. Digital Extremes says there are 10 face shape options and nearly two dozen additional hair styles, plus recoloring.
Preludes 13 also adds The Organ: Medis Gyon, a new mission type built around taking down polluter towers out in Midrath. It’s framed as knocking out giant machines that are choking the world, but the practical takeaway is a new objective set to hunt down in the overworld.
For combat and progression, there’s a tougher bear-focused boss update too. After completing the Fable of the Waste Bear, players can run into a new overworld variant, the Vadagar Bear, in certain areas. The update also lets you replay the Fable of the Waste Bear, adds Boards on World Trees so you can accept multiple Tales (side quests) at once, and includes a full combat audio overhaul for more consistent weapon sounds.
Soulframe remains in a closed, free alpha on PC. You can join the weekly access queue or get instant entry by becoming a Founder via the official website.
