DDO’s Update 78 adds a 20th anniversary token, Remnant’s Rush, and a free Arcane Trickster trial

Dungeons & Dragons Online is gearing up for its 20th anniversary alongside Update 78: Natural 20. The big beats: every character gets a 20th Anniversary Token to spend on a reward, a new limited-time activity called Sterling’s Remnant Rush is coming in with the update, and the Arcane Trickster Archetype will be free to claim during the anniversary event.

The anniversary event runs through March 31, with Anniversary Island serving as the main hub. Standing Stone says the hub itself has been updated, and more details are still on the way as the event gets closer.

The token is straightforward: Update 78 drops, and each of your characters receives one. After that, it’s a choice. You can cash it in for an instant 200,000 XP, or trade it for other rewards like cosmetic clothing and various gear items with set bonuses. The team says there are multiple options depending on what you’re trying to build.

Sterling’s Remnant Rush is also tied to the anniversary window. You’ll collect Mysterious Remnants out in the world, then trade them to Sterling the Strongbox for rewards. There are a couple of limits worth knowing up front: you can only redeem up to 10 rewards per month per account, and each exchange pushes the price of the next reward higher.

On the class side, the Arcane Trickster is basically a Rogue with a heavier magical toolkit. One example the team called out is using mage hand-style tricks to deal with traps from range. It’ll get a deeper breakdown on the anniversary hub later, but the key detail for most players is access: you can pick up the Arcane Trickster for free while the anniversary is live, then it moves to the in-game store once the event ends.
