AION Classic EU’s Update 4.5 “Ignite” adds the Phoenix class and a new Teva zone in early 2026

Gameforge says AION Classic EU’s next major patch, Update 4.5 “Ignite,” is slated for early 2026. It’s a free update through the Gameforge client, and it’s headlined by a brand-new class called Phoenix plus a new open-world progression zone, Teva.

The big wrinkle here is how it’s being shipped. Instead of rolling out 4.5 in chunks, Gameforge plans to drop it as one consolidated patch for EU, including balance and usability tweaks based on feedback and changes from other regions.

Phoenix is described as a fast, mid-range magic damage dealer that uses Flame Revolvers and wears Flame Leather gear. Its core mechanic is Overcharge Energy, which builds on critical hits and then flips the class into a short burst state that boosts its magical skills. Gameforge also calls out tools like airborne binds, pull abilities, auto-cannons, and skill resets, with the intent being a mobile kit that works in both PvE and PvP.

On the progression side, Teva is a new field zone built as a central hub for 4.5. It’s got rotating “anomalies,” field missions, rare monsters, and hidden islands reached through special portals. There’s also a weekly-reset currency for rewards, plus a monster taming system that uses Prism Cores to capture rare creatures.

Update 4.5 also changes the early game flow. The legacy base class step is being removed, so new characters start directly as their chosen advanced class. New characters will also begin in their faction’s main city rather than a starter zone.

Endgame and combat are getting a pass too, including a new Battle Armour gear path, “Arcamant” equipable progression items, higher-tier Manastones, and a broad skill overhaul with new Advanced Skills and Stigmas. RvR is also set for refinements to raids, scheduling, and rewards, alongside general quality-of-life updates for things like crafting and inventory management.

Keep in mind, Aion Classic EU is not accessible by those in North America. That version of the game (both retail and classic) is available through NCSoft’s own Purple launcher.
