Ship of Heroes Servers Go Offline on September 22

Ship of Heroes is shutting down on September 22, 2026, exactly one year after its launch. Once the servers go offline, the superhero MMORPG will no longer be playable.

The team said it has decided to stop development rather than release its next planned content update. That update would have included a user-generated mission tool and 40 new missions, both of which had already gone through closed beta. The tool was designed to let players build missions using in-game assets, with rewards, difficulty, and scaling handled like regular missions.

According to the announcement, the decision comes after the development team shrank following launch, slowing progress “to a crawl.” The studio said it won’t publish the finished content and will instead close the game entirely on September 22.

Ship of Heroes was first announced nine years before launch and was built by a small team as a superhero MMO with character creation, scalable missions for groups of up to 10, crafting, trading, an auction house, player housing, raids, and seasonal events. Since launch, the game added Halloween and Christmas content, gadgetry crafting, dance emotes, quality-of-life updates, and bug fixes.

The developers thanked the community for its feedback across public tests, forum discussions, and more than 220 polls during development.
