RuneScape will clear out remaining Treasure Hunter MTX items by November 23

Jagex has set November 23, 2026 as the cutoff for RuneScape players to use, convert, or keep whatever legacy Treasure Hunter items are still sitting in their banks. The move follows the removal of Treasure Hunter on January 19, after more than 120,000 players voted in favor of removing the system.

The studio says remaining MTX items will be sorted into three buckets: revised, retained, or removed. Items marked for removal will disappear during the game update on November 23, with unused eligible items converted into GP. Players will get a better conversion rate if they hand them in during a limited-time “Well of Restoration” event planned shortly after November’s Double XP event.

That Double XP event is being framed as the last good chance to use up old MTX items for their original purpose. After that, the Well of Restoration will let players donate eligible items for coins. Anyone who logs in during the send-off event will also receive the title “The Restorer.” Exact event dates are still coming in RuneScape’s November Month Ahead post.

Jagex is not wiping everything. Some items will stay, some will lose their gameplay function, and others are being reworked because they currently cover too much ground or skip too much gameplay.

  • Slayer VIP Tokens will be removed in their current form, with their function potentially folded into Slayer later.
  • Slayer Masks and the Spring Cleaner will remain, though both may see adjustments.
  • Springs and Tight Springs will be consolidated into one item type, as will Magic Notepaper and Enchanted Notepaper.
  • Lucky Weapons and Lucky Equipment will become cosmetic items.
  • Dragon and Metallic Dragon Trinkets will lose most benefits, though their teleport function is staying for now.
  • Clover Necklaces, Skilling Backpacks, Powerpacks, Aurelian capes, and Butterfly Jars will keep cosmetic use but lose functionality.
  • Soul Reaper Refreshes, Luminite Injectors, Mimic Kill Tokens, Summoning Focuses, and Spirit Gems are being retained.

The broad direction is clear: RuneScape is continuing to unwind the old Treasure Hunter economy without deleting every item outright. The bigger pain point will be how much everyday convenience disappears with some of these items, especially for players who built routines around them.
