RuneScape Dragonwilds Adds Umbral Sands in Its Last Major Pre-Launch Update
RuneScape Dragonwilds has rolled out Umbral Sands, the survival sandbox’s final major update before its planned 1.0 launch on September 15 for PC and consoles. The update is live now on PC and adds a new desert region, fresh crafting materials, another dragon threat, and more language support.
Umbral Sands is built around harsh desert conditions. Players will have to deal with dynamic weather and extreme heat, moving between patches of shade while crossing the dunes. It’s a pretty direct survival wrinkle, and a change of pace from the game’s existing areas.
The update also brings more RuneScape-linked items and materials into Dragonwilds. Adamant, Red Dragonhide, and Yew are now part of the crafting pool, with new gear tied to them, including Red Dragonhide leather armor.
There’s a new dragon in the mix too. Fuzan appears in the desert and hunts players after nightfall. Umbral Sands also introduces the Fight Cave, a replayable area with different modes and chances at rare crafting rewards.
Players can also get around on new mounts, including a magic carpet, and call on the Menaphite god of the dead for help in the region. On the localization side, the update adds support for Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese.
RuneScape Dragonwilds is currently building toward its 1.0 release after spending time in early access. September 15 is the target date for the full launch across PC and consoles.
