PSO2 New Genesis Sets 14th Anniversary Event and Chapter 9 for August 5

SEGA is lining up a busy August for Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis, with the Super Phantasy Festival ’26 starting August 5 and running through September 1. The event marks the 14th anniversary of PSO2 and brings back seasonal campaigns, a 10-day free AC Scratch, Super Treasure Scratch, and the Reward Box Event.

The same August 5 update also adds Main Story Chapter 9. This chapter follows the player and their allies after the Alter Realm investigation, with Lucia, a young girl who has lost her memories, becoming part of the next stretch of the story.

Central City and Region Mags will get anniversary decorations for the event, while Lillipans, Ceremo Rappy, and Ceremo Emperappy return across the field. Xiandy is this season’s event navigator, and the Seasonal Points Exchange Shop will offer items including Build Parts such as Yo-yo Innertube and Sunny Pillow, plus an accessory based on Solus’s hand.

A limited-time Super Phantasy Festival ’26 SP Scratch is also planned. Its lineup includes an NGS-spec outfit for Margareta from PSO2, along with new items and some older ones that have become harder to get. Tickets will be available through the Seasonal Points Exchange Shop, limited-time quests, and other event activities.

SEGA is also refreshing Treasure Scratch rewards with new augments, including Telphia Domina and Athos Halphinale. The Super Reward Box Event will add extra rewards such as SG and Beta Reactors, and players who clear out both Treasure Scratch and the Reward Box Event can earn Thankful Scratch Tickets.

Several limited-time quests are part of the update schedule. The Writhing Malice, Confined ’26 is an eight-player quest set in Dreisen Plant, where clearing waves adds more time to the clock. On August 5, the limited-time urgent quest Luther, The Emergent Created Conqueror D.2 arrives, featuring Malignant Ruine Luther and a special Line Strike card drop. From August 5 maintenance through September 2 maintenance, every Urgent Quest in Kvaris will be that Luther quest.

Another eight-player quest, Lurking in the Twisted Forest, will send players into an altered Resol Forest filled with Megalotix and Enhanced Enemies, ending with a new enemy called Ruine Anga.
