ArcheAge Chronicles Shows Off Ranger Class With Longbow and Hatchet Paths

XL Games has revealed the Ranger for ArcheAge Chronicles, and it’s not just the standard bow-user archetype. The class will have two paths to build around: a Longbow style focused on ranged pressure and precision, and a Hatchet style that shifts the Ranger into faster, close-range combat.

According to the Discord preview, the Ranger is built around tracking targets, finding openings, and ending fights quickly. There’s also some class lore tied to Tahyang Kahlzit, the Firran hero, but the big takeaway for players is how differently the two weapon paths seem to play.

The Longbow path is the cleaner fit for anyone who wants the Ranger to fight from distance. Skills shown include Rapid Fire for unloading arrows into a marked target, Fire Arrow for an explosive shot, Ice Arrow for locking an enemy down, and Aimed Shot for a heavier precision hit. Crescent Kick gives the path a defensive counter, letting the Ranger deflect an incoming attack and keep moving.

The Hatchet path is the stranger, more aggressive option. It mixes melee attacks with wind and lightning effects, with skills like Stormsplitter, which dodges incoming attacks before chaining hatchet strikes into a lightning finisher. Overcharge powers up the weapon for a burst of attacks, while Shocking Kick and Storm Chaser help the Ranger stay on top of enemies. Wind Blade also works as a counter, turning a deflection into a slash that can hit nearby and distant targets.

This is the second class preview in the current ArcheAge Chronicles rollout, following the Warrior, which also has two paths. XL Games hasn’t given a release date here, but the Ranger preview does give a clearer picture of how the game is handling classes: familiar roles, split into more distinct combat styles.
