Path of Exile 2’s Forbidden Rites League Starts September 4, Duelist Still Set for December

Path of Exile 2’s next event league, Forbidden Rites, goes live alongside patch 0.5.5 on September 4 at 1 PM PDT. It’s a fresh league with a new economy, new challenges, and exclusive rewards, but it isn’t replacing the current Runes of Aldur league.

Grinding Gear Games also confirmed that the Duelist is not part of update 0.5.5. That class is still planned for December 11, when Path of Exile 2 hits its 1.0 full release.

  • Forbidden Rites runs until the 1.0 launch and ends alongside Runes of Aldur.
  • Players can join by selecting Forbidden Rites on the character selection screen and making a new character.
  • Private Leagues for Forbidden Rites can be created starting August 31 PDT, though they won’t be playable until the league launches.
  • Runes of Aldur remains active until 1.0, so unfinished challenges can still be completed there.
  • Trial of Chaos changes and other 0.5.5 improvements apply across the game, including Standard and Runes of Aldur.
  • Runes of Aldur content is being added to the core game with the patch, making it available in Standard.

The studio says full patch notes are coming later this week, with item filter details due a couple of days after the FAQ. The realm will go down before the patch is deployed, with exact maintenance timing still to be announced.
