Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.3 Reworks Endgame Rewards and Delirium Scaling

Path of Exile 2 patch 0.5.3 goes live today, bringing a wide pass over the endgame with a focus on making high-tier map investment pay off more consistently. Grinding Gear Games is changing several major systems, including Grand Expeditions, Delirium, Breach, Abyss, and Temple content.

The patch also includes a long list of bug fixes, controller and UI improvements, and some boss damage reductions. PlayStation players may need to wait roughly 15 minutes after deployment before the update becomes available to download.

  • Grand Expeditions now scale Remnants by Waystone Tier, with Tier 15+ maps offering the highest possible count. Chest rewards have also been reshuffled, removing basic weapon and armour chests in favor of more currency, uniques, Waystones, and high-rarity item chests.
  • Delirium gets one of the biggest changes. Simulacrums now start at 100% Delirious and scale up to 200%, while Delirium fog is being toned down early in the endgame. Multiple Delirium Tablets can bring that scaling back up.
  • Breach Strongholds should now spawn more maps, and Breach Fruit bulk use has been made less awkward with a Ctrl-click option for rapidly opening Wombgifts.
  • Abyss rewards are being tightened up, with several bosses and final Abyssal Depths troves now always dropping Desecrated Currency. Grip of Kulemak also gets 13 new Abyssal Wasting modifiers.
  • Previously attempted maps now give 50% reduced experience, on top of the existing item reward penalty.
  • Geonor’s Moonbeam and Reverse Cleave attacks have had their damage reduced across all versions of the fight, with Moonbeam also getting lower area of effect and freeze buildup.

There are also several useful fixes tucked into the patch. Runeforging should no longer delete socketed Jewels, Unique Expedition Chests should properly drop a Unique Item, and a Sorcery Ward bug that could turn its barrier value negative has been capped for now. GGG says it plans to review Sorcery Ward in a future patch.

For players deep into the Atlas, 0.5.3 looks like a cleanup pass for the current endgame economy. Better rewards, fewer broken interactions, and a little less friction.
