AION 2 Gets September 2026 Release Window for the West

NC America is aiming to release AION 2 in the West in September 2026, following a hands-off Summer Game Fest demo that showed the MMO’s character creator, combat, flight, solo dungeons, and group PvE.

The sequel has already launched in Eastern markets, but NC is still preparing the Western version. The demo focused on familiar MMO pieces, including classes like Gladiator, Assassin, Sorcerer, and Spirit Master, while also leaning hard on one of AION’s signature ideas: flight.

Flight is being expanded beyond the original game. Players will be able to fly anywhere, and aerial combat is part of the package. NC also addressed monetization around wings and cosmetics, saying cash shop items will be cosmetic only. Wings and gear earned through gameplay can carry gameplay bonuses, such as extra flying stamina, but paid versions of similar items won’t.

AION 2 will also include a transmog system, with collected armor unlocking cosmetic appearances players can apply later. For players who spend a lot of MMO time chasing outfits, that’s a useful confirmation.

On the PvE side, NC says the game will support solo progression, though solo players won’t see everything. Nightmares are solo dungeon-style challenges built around boss fights, while Expeditions are designed for four players and Sanctuaries for eight. The demo’s group encounter used familiar MMO readability tools, including marked area attacks and audio-visual cues for mechanics.

Accessibility details are still limited, but NC mentioned one option already in place: players can chain abilities to a single button through the skills menu. The team said it’s still considering broader accessibility features for the Western version.

NC also framed AION 2 as a modernized take on a traditional tab-targeting MMO rather than a full break from the original game’s roots. More details are expected as the Western launch gets closer.
