Pantheon Delays Early Access Wipe With No New Date, Pulls Mastery From Next Build
Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen’s long-awaited Early Access production wipe no longer has a date. In a Sept. 18 update, the team said the wipe will happen “when it’s ready,” after a PTR build includes the goals and features planned for the reset.
The next production candidate build also won’t include Mastery. The studio said the system turned out to be a larger job than expected and isn’t meeting its goals yet. Mastery was meant to expand how classes express their kits, not weaken the core class kits, so it’s being pulled until it can be reworked further.
The post is unusually direct about what went wrong. The team said it announced the Spring wipe too early, put dates on features that were still being designed, and gave players the wrong impression about what the Public Test Realm was meant to be. PTR was supposed to be a rough feature-testing space, but level cap increases and feature rollouts landed before existing bugs, class issues, and content tuning were in a good place.
Quality assurance was also called out. The team said builds went to PTR without enough internal testing, which left players dealing with lingering bugs while the developers were also trying to add new systems, server and tooling updates, class changes, itemization work, NPC templates, and more. Weekly patches became too much to keep up with.
PTR updates have slowed because the team has split its work: half is focused on the new production candidate build, while the other half continues working on features and tools being tested on PTR. The studio said it should have explained that shift sooner.
For players, the practical takeaway is simple: the wipe is still planned, but there’s no replacement date, and Mastery won’t be part of the next production candidate. The team says it will announce timing only once the PTR build is in the right state.
