Once Human launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, ocean expansion set for October

Once Human is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, following its console launch during Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2026. NetEase and Starry Studio also announced the game’s next major update, Ocean Expansion: Isles of Abyss, which is planned for October.

The free-to-play survival game was previously available on PC, Android, and iOS. The console versions support cross-play, so players across all platforms can play together.

Once Human is set in a post-apocalyptic world shaped by Stardust, an alien substance that has corrupted creatures known as Deviations. Rather than just killing everything that moves, players can use some of those entities to support combat abilities or help power their base.

Xbox players with Game Pass get a few extra membership benefits, including an exclusive avatar, a META PASS benefit card, XP cards, and monthly outfit updates. On PS5, the game uses DualSense features such as haptic feedback for different terrain types and adaptive trigger resistance for actions like drawing a bow.

The October expansion shifts the focus to the sea. Isles of Abyss will add shipbuilding, with vessels ranging from simple rafts to larger mobile bases, along with naval combat and encounters with large sea creatures.
