Old School RuneScape’s Fractured Archive Raid Launches October 20

Old School RuneScape’s next raid, The Fractured Archive, is set to launch on October 20. Jagex showed the raid at RuneFest earlier this month, and has now shared more details on what players should expect before heading in.

The Fractured Archive is OSRS’s first new raid in four years, and Jagex is positioning it as the game’s hardest raid yet. It follows the events of While Guthix Sleeps, with a newly opened ancient entrance leading players into the Archive. You’ll need to have completed that quest before you can enter, starting from a lobby where groups can prepare.

The raid is built for 2 to 8 players, though Jagex recommends parties of 3 to 5. Solo runs technically aren’t blocked, but the studio says they’re meant to be an aspirational challenge for highly experienced players. There won’t be special solo scaling, since the team wants to keep this as pinnacle group content with co-op mechanics intact.

Jagex also confirmed that The Fractured Archive uses a death and wipe system identical to Theatre of Blood, so mistakes are expected to hurt. The latest devblog covers the raid’s layout, encounters, challenge structure, and loot details, including spoilers for players who want to go in prepared.

There won’t be an official Race to World First event this time. Instead, Jagex is planning a lower-key Twitch watch party for launch day, with developers who worked on the raid joining the stream.
