Old School RuneScape Starts Quest Month With Two New Quests and Name Release Changes

Old School RuneScape’s Quest Month is underway, and Jagex has opened it with two surprise quests plus a batch of questing cleanups in the November 3 update. The new quests are live now, alongside better quest sorting options, XP rewards for older quests that previously gave none, and a small Lumbridge tidy-up aimed at making the starter area less cluttered.

Players can now sort the quest list to show quests in progress or completed quests. Daddy’s Home has also been turned into a full quest, with a minimap icon so new players are more likely to find it. Some older quests now award XP, and players who already finished them can claim the new rewards from Perdu, the Lumbridge Guide, or the relevant quest NPCs.

  • Hardcore Worlds open on November 4, 2026 at 11:00 UTC through a hotfix, with no extra downtime planned.
  • The first character name release in nearly 10 years begins November 5, 2026 at 11:00 UTC.
  • Name claims require membership and a skill total of at least 800 in Old School RuneScape or 900 in RuneScape.
  • Bonds can now be used to apply membership to another character on the same Jagex Account, without transferring the Bond item itself, though Jagex says it is still working to make the new transfer options fully available.

The name release will start with names beginning with A, then continue in weekday batches until all eligible names are released. Jagex says eligible abandoned characters must have been inactive for at least two years and either permanently banned, never been a member, or had membership only through Bonds that ended at least five years ago.

Lumbridge also got some NPC reshuffling. Several tutors have been renamed or folded into existing characters, Hatius Cosantius has been moved to the Falador pub, and Mikasi is now the Lumbridge task master. The Ironman tutor is still in Lumbridge, but won’t show up for non-Ironman players.

The update also includes a long list of fixes for The Fractured Archive, mostly aimed at boss clickboxes, room behavior, sound effects, and Ocellus phase issues. One small extra for pet hunters: Ascension rocks now have a very rare chance to drop the Rock Golem.
