New World’s Player Wishlist Patch Is Ready, But Delayed After Platform Rebuild Request

New World’s next quality-of-life patch was supposed to go live on October 14, but Amazon has delayed the downtime after a late request from one platform to recompile the build. The team said the update is ready otherwise, and it’s hoping to run downtime early tomorrow, though the timing is still TBD.

The patch is built around community requests gathered from the player wishlist thread, which the remaining New World team opened after confirming the MMO is headed for shutdown in January 2027. Game director Scot Lane said most of these changes came directly from that thread, with more QoL ideas still being investigated.

The current patch is described as “small but mighty,” and it focuses on practical pain points rather than new content. Planned changes include:

  • Removing gold costs from faction shop items.
  • Increasing sterling rewards from Catacombs.
  • Removing mercenary limits from wars.
  • Disabling the daggers weapon.
  • Significantly reducing carry and storage weight for seven perk-charm materials.
  • Making corrupted portals respawn faster.

Amazon hasn’t given a new exact maintenance window yet. For now, the patch is effectively on hold until the rebuilt version clears whatever platform-side requirement caused the delay.
