New World’s March patch adds region transfers and a batch of late-game fixes
New World went down for maintenance today as Amazon rolled out its March update, and the biggest change is one players have been waiting on for a while: region transfers are now live. According to the announcement, downtime started at 1 p.m. EDT and was expected to last a couple of hours.
The transfer process is handled through the Character Transfer service in the in-game Store. Once you start it, you’ll be kicked back to the main menu, and Amazon says it can take a few minutes before your character appears on its new world.
This patch also bundles in a handful of quality-of-life changes and fixes. Steam achievements that weren’t working properly have been addressed, all transmog appearances are now unlocked for everyone, and the total number of gear sets has been raised to 30. Amazon also pushed the AFK timer out to 24 hours.
There are some gameplay adjustments too. The update disables Stifling Set effects and the Penetrating Backstab perk, lowers the player requirements for PvP queues, increases soulmark drop rates, and raises the mercenary limit.
That all lines up with the game’s current wind-down period. Amazon previously said more changes are coming over the next few months, including farming cap increases in April and more tweaks to mutation and soul trial timers. If you’re still playing, this patch is mostly about making the remaining stretch a little easier to deal with.
