Monsters & Memories opens The Deep in latest beta patch
Monsters & Memories Beta Patch 0.29 is live as of September 10, unlocking the first module of The Deep ahead of the game’s planned October 1 early access launch. The update lets players create Deep Elf and Deep Gnome characters, with Ail’Vorith and Underdocks now available for testing.
The team is being clear that The Deep is still unfinished. Great Cavern Sea is described as the least developed of the Deep zones and isn’t part of this build, while The Blind Midden is also unavailable for now. Ail’Vorith, the Deep Elf city, is currently limited to its Foreign Quarter, with the full city planned for early access.
- Deep Elf and Deep Gnome characters can now be created.
- Ail’Vorith and Underdocks are open for testing.
- Additional combat zones and boat routes have been added.
- Rothold is now reached through its Great Cavern Sea entrance, with the teleporter NPC disabled.
- Deep Elf players who can’t get NPC responses may need to switch their language to Deep Common.
Patch 0.29 also adds a forced solo challenge mode, and turning on all challenge modes now counts as true HCSSF. There’s a new spellbook UI, new camera options for shoulder offset, new sit and stand animation keybinds, and a character creation button that lets players go back and pick a different starting location if they choose the wrong one.
Housing gets a notable beta-only expansion too. Inn housing is now instanced, and players can enter someone else’s inn room only if they’re grouped with that player and permission is set to Public. For testing, account and guild property limits have been raised well beyond what sounds like the intended live setup.
On the systems side, the patch touches a lot. PvP free-for-all volumes have been added to several higher-value areas, with PvP suppression zones adjusted in places like Night Harbor, Faelindral, Underdocks, and Ail’Vorith. Tradeskills get new recipes and pricing changes, mounts now require feed, and single-target healing has been retuned around lower heal values and adjusted mana costs.
There are also a pile of fixes, including water rendering issues, tooltip scaling, pet group bar problems after zoning, stealth detection bugs, bind wound movement, and a Pustulax issue that could hit every player in a zone.
