Monsters & Memories Details Wizard Class and New Incantations System

Monsters & Memories has posted its second class deep dive, this time focused on the Wizard, as the old-school EverQuest inspired MMORPG continues toward Early Access. The breakdown covers the class’s spell lines, utility tools, and a new optional system called Incantations.

According to the official deep dive, Wizards are built around 16 damage spell lines, with many spells carrying secondary effects tied to elements. Quick casts like Flash of Lightning and Flash of Ice can help with pulling or kiting, while slower casts like Fireball are meant to hit harder. The class also has crowd control, debuffs, dispels, buffs, and mobility spells for moving themselves or allies.

The bigger reveal is Incantations. Casters normally have 10 spell slots, but Wizards can use five of those slots with four glyphs and a catalyst to access 36 spells. That includes all 16 damage lines plus 20 utility spells, giving players a broader toolkit without swapping constantly.

The developers describe Incantations as an optional mastery system, not a requirement. Players who don’t want to manage glyphs should still be able to play an effective Wizard through normal spell slotting.

The post also notes a few changes from the original Wizard plan. Some earlier ideas, including item summoning and spell customization, have been cut or reworked as the class design settled around its damage lines and utility kit.

Like the Spellblade, which was covered in the first class deep dive, the Wizard is expected to enter beta in the next few weeks.
