LOTRO’s Update 49 Brings Angmarim Sorceress and Ettenmoors PvP Changes This Summer

Standing Stone Games has outlined what’s coming next for Lord of the Rings Online, with Update 49 set to focus heavily on the Ettenmoors PvP zone. The big addition is the Angmarim Sorceress, a new Monster Player option that’s been tested on Bullroarer and is now headed for the live game this summer.

According to the official post, the Sorceress will be available through the LOTRO Store, or through one of three starter bundles. Those bundles include higher progression tiers for the class and some skins.

Ettenmoors is also getting broader changes alongside the new Monster Player. Standing Stone says it’s updating the Artifact capture system, the Underseaths, and Siege, while adding The Delving of Fror, a new dungeon with quests, items, and other rewards tied to the PvP area.

Outside of PvP, Update 49 will make older armour sets more available and improve visibility in some of the game’s darker spaces. Delvings, the difficulty modifier system used in certain instances, are also getting reward changes, with items available through barter or Delving loot.

LOTRO’s summer events are returning too. Ill Omens will come back with new rewards, followed later by Farmer’s Faire.

The studio also teased what comes after Update 49. LOTRO’s next major expansion is planned as part of Update 50 this fall, with the announcement set for Gen Con. More details are expected there.
