Broken Ranks Is Replacing Rest With Passive Regeneration on July 8

Broken Ranks is getting a systems update on July 8 that removes the current rest mechanic and replaces it with passive regeneration outside of combat. The patch will also rework pet gear ranks, adjust some pet gear rewards, and move a couple of rare pet item drops.

According to the developer blog, regeneration will kick in when a character is out of combat and standing in a location with the appropriate color. Party members who qualify for regeneration in an area will benefit from it even if others in the same group don’t. Whitemoon Games says players will also be able to regenerate while moving, but at a slower rate, with final numbers still being worked out.

The pet gear changes are tied to earlier equipment rank adjustments for player characters. Rare pet gear from a single boss no longer needs multiple tiers, so required levels and ranks are being adjusted. As a result, some higher-ranked pet gear will give fewer shards and essences when shattered or melted.

There’s one practical warning for traders: affected items listed on the marketplace will be removed when the update goes live. Two rare pet items are changing sources as well. Basteya and Hussarion will no longer drop from Shadow instances, and will instead come from Fyodor and GMO.
