Lord of the Rings Online adds the Angmarim Sorceress as a new Monster Play class
Lord of the Rings Online is getting a new class, but it’s not one most players will be able to roll in the main game. The Angmarim Sorceress is being added to Monster Play, LOTRO’s PvP mode in the Ettenmoors where players fight on Sauron’s side as “creeps.”
That makes this a pretty specific addition, but it’s still a notable one. Monster Play hasn’t exactly been the busiest corner of LOTRO in recent years, and creep players don’t get new class options very often. The Sorceress is meant to fill a support role, giving monster-side groups another tool in PvP.
As described in the reveal, the Angmarim Sorceress uses dark magic tied to Angmar and focuses on helping allied creeps while disrupting Free Peoples players on the battlefield. Standing Stone Games is positioning it as a support-heavy class rather than a straight damage dealer.
Because this is a Monster Play class, it won’t be available for regular PvE questing, leveling through Middle-earth, or the game’s standard class progression. It’s limited to the Ettenmoors, where LOTRO’s long-running faction-based PvP takes place.
That narrow scope means it won’t matter much to players who never touch Monster Play. For the part of the community that still does, though, a new creep class is one of the more meaningful updates that mode has seen in a while.
